You know your dog deserves the best and, let’s face it, that pretty much means a Paco Collar, but it’s up to you to convince us. Here’s how it works:

Feel free to be as clever as you need to be in explaining exactly why your dog, above all else, deserves a Paco Collar. We don’t care if your dog has a string of rescues that puts Lassie to shame or if their sole skill is “footwarmer,” we want to hear what you and your loved ones have to say. Extra points for mentioning exactly which Paco Collar would suit them best, and you can enter as many times as you want.

What’s that? You say your dog is swimming in Paco Collars and couldn’t possibly use another one? Well then use your powers for good and make the case for a needy dog. Just give us a visual, a story, and get others to help them out.

While we do encourage you to get your friends and family involved, we also know popularity contests can be unfair, so know that…

5. Paco Collars, the company, will also pick a second winner, based solely on quality of the entry.

What does that mean? It means you have a chance to wow us, like really wow us with the quality of your plea, so don’t hold back!

Many weeks ago we promised to come up with a creative way to thank you guys if you helped us win SFGate’s BayList Award for Best Pet Couture. Well, thanks to you guys, not only did we win, but we creamed the competition. To say the Paco Collars fan base is anything less than a passionate army is not giving you guys enough credit.

It’s official, Paco Collars is the best Pet Couture in the Bay Area, according to SFGate’s BayList winner results, announced today. We know that you know that Paco Collars makes the best darn leather dog collars and leashes on the market, but now the whole world knows.

Thanks to everyone who participated and helped us sweep this contest! There was some stiff competition but, with your help, we landed on top. It’s a clear message to the world that “Pet Couture” isn’t just for the littles anymore, and real dogs need real goods made just for them and their lifestyle.

Oh yeah, one more thing…. wooohooo!

For the lifetime of this collar design we’ll donate a portion of sales back to the Sula Foundation, and this first week in June we’ll be donating 20%. For everything Sula gave and created during her lifetime, it’s the least we can do.

By now you’ve probably heard about the terrible fire that hit the Berkeley East Bay Humane Society May 20, 2010, gutting the building, killing 15 animals and leaving the rest homeless. We at Paco Collars were especially affecting since one of our own was a fixture there for years (we’re actually referring to a human for once, Tim, not one of the animals).

When disaster strikes in your own backyard, you have to help out, and lucky for you we’ve come up with several ways you can help us pitch in and rebuild BEBHS. Take your pick:

– Sidewalk Sale at Paco Collars this May 22! Several local crafters will be setting up shop outside the store this Saturday to share their wares with proceeds going to BEBHS. Come check out all the cool stuff we have coming!

For those folks who are either busy Saturday or out of the area, many online stores have also agreed to donate 20% of Saturday proceeds to BEBHS (and some, like Paco Collars, will be extending the offer for the rest of the month). At long last, our new commercial hits the air (er, internetz)! Take a gander and let us know what you think… beware, this song may be stuck in your head for days.

Our last contest was so much fun we’ve decided to do it again, only this time we have rules (don’t worry, they’re minimal). Here’s the general overview…

Post your favorite/best picture of your dog on our Facebook Fan page. They can be stacked, looking regal, adorable, silly, in action, a close-up… it’s completely up to your tastes and you can post more than once if you come across a better contender later. Commentors can post one comment per day, and the picture with the most comments wins the collar of their choice (up to $100, or that value can be put toward the Exclusive model of your choice).

As always, we’ll also pick the shot we think most befitting of the prize, so there will be two winners in the end. Contest ends this Thursday at 9 pm PST and the winner will be announced by Friday morning.

So get going through your photo collection and hit us with your best shot!

Come join us April 8 for the world premier of our new commercial, “Collar Chameleon”! We’ve secured the big screen at Eli’s Mile High Club so the embarrassment will be maximized (did we mention that we all sing and dance in this one?).

We’ll do the first showing at around 8 pm and a second around 10 pm, so don’t try and be cool and show up late. Eli’s Mile High Club serves decent food as well as drinks so you can eat dinner with us if you have to rush there from work.

There can be many reasons to discontinue a design, and this is our least favorite one: the manufacturer has stopped making the decorations. Unfortunately, it happens to be the turquoise decoration that makes up our Jojo and Pocket collars. We’ve bought our supplier out, but these decorations are in limited supply.

We’re in the process of figuring out another alternative for this design, but it will most likely make a resurrection with different color choices as we’ve not been able to find a turquoise decoration that is quite as good.

What this means to you is that if you’ve ever wanted to order either the Pocket or the Jojo, now is the time to do it. We’ve got a small stash of turquoise decorations, but once they’re gone, they’re gone and we’ll be pulling the designs from the site.
